A Shining Star

Halimah Adilah Muhammad, an energetic, bright-eyed girl, entered the world on October 14, 1985, instantly captivating everyone with her infectious smile. Born into the union of Siddiqu (preceded in death) and Aesha Muhammad, Halimah quickly became the heart and soul of the family. She was the youngest, and she played her position well. She was showered affectionately by her older siblings, Asad, Ayanna, and Siddiqu Ibn.

With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, Halimah excelled academically, leaving an indelible mark on every school she attended. Meadowview Elementary, Prairie Hills Elementary, and Hillcrest High School witnessed her brilliance as she balanced academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities.

On the weekends, Halimah shed her academic persona, transforming into a fierce competitor on the track and a captivating cheerleader on the sidelines. Her athletic prowess earned her numerous trophies and awards, including first place at a prestigious track meet and the coveted Cheerleading Award at Hillcrest.

A Howard Bison

In 2004, Halimah’s academic journey continued at Howard University, where she immersed herself in the vibrant campus life, forging lifelong friendships and pursuing her passion for communication. Her dedication to her studies and cheerleading led her to join the elite Howard Bison Cheerleading Team. Once there, she became the captain and contributed to their numerous victories. Halimah ended this journey with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. HU, YOU KNOW!!!

A Mentor and Coach

Driven by a deep-seated desire to make a positive impact, Halimah embarked on a career as a cheerleading coach, inspiring and empowering young athletes. She poured her heart and soul into coaching the Dazzling Diamonds, Country Club Hills Cougars, and Matteson Bears, leaving an impactful mark on the lives of her students. Halimah built lasting mentee relationships that continued well after her coaching years.

An Educator and Entrepreneur

With an unwavering commitment to education, Halimah pursued a Master’s Degree in Education from DePaul University, further deepening her connection with the youth of Chicago. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish businesses dedicated to enriching the lives of young people. She supported Kamp Khalil, a Muslim summer camp that infused math and fun. Later, she founded Project Ramadan, which had chapters in Chicago, Washington D.C., and Atlanta.

Faith & Strength

A Fighter and A Believer

In 2017, Halimah Adilah Muhammad faced a life-altering moment with a stage 3 Breast Cancer diagnosis. Undeterred, she met the challenge head-on, undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries. Her unwavering courage earned her the prestigious Fighter of the Year award in 2022. Throughout her fight, Halimah’s faith remained a constant never questioning her Lord’s decree.

Amidst her battle, Halimah found strength through connections with influential spiritual leaders, notably Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, Sarah Jakes-Roberts, Minister Ishmeal Muhammad, and Imam Tariq El-Amin. Their wisdom and guidance became pillars of support. Halimah’s journey exemplifies resilience in adversity and the profound impact of faith and influential connections.

Sisterhood

A Sister in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated

On April 28, 2019, Halimah’s life was further enriched when she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Crimson and Cream became her signature colors, representing the sisterhood and empowerment she found within her sorority. She was known as the L.I.T. Soror which is something she was loved for. Halimah has been an active member participating with Delta Gems, Delta Academy, and the step team.

A Life of Laughter and Impact

Halimah Adilah Muhammad’s life is like a rollercoaster of passion, perseverance, and unstoppable fun! Her dedication to education, mentoring, and empowering others is impactful and filled with infectious joy. She’s living proof that one person can greatly impact the world.

Let’s talk about Halimah’s alter ego, the Queen of Fun, who stayed L.I.T. Picture this: wherever she went, an “Ayeee” echoed in the air, announcing her arrival.

Her idea of a break? Hopping around the globe in a fresh pair of J’s, styled to the nines, locs propped up in an African head wrap. Halimah loved visiting with friends or lounging on international beaches. From the Bahamas, Houston, Mexico, Atlanta, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Halimah bonded with friends while traveling the globe! And, of course, she wouldn’t miss the Essence Festival in New Orleans. As for her favorite pastime, it involved savoring hot wings (flats only) and fries! When not jet-setting, she cherished moments in bed, binge-watching old episodes of Friends and A Different World. To know Halimah was to know she did not do “small talk.” On the contrary, her specialty was deep discussions with loved ones, proving that Halimah knew how to blend impact with a good dose of laughter.
